About Arogya Foundation
The 'Arogya' Foundation for the Disabled was born to support disabled people in Sri Lanka enables people with disabilities to improve their life skills. Founded six years ago, the Foundation continues to render their services all over the country and nearly 200 patients have been received necessary medical equipments such as crutches, walking sticks, wheel chairs, etc. The Foundation is a non-profit organization, founded by Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero and registered in Sri Lanka in year 2008. Registration No. 134405

Awording CeromonyAwarding of the ‘Diriya Prasadhani’ for selected personnel who have rendered remarkable services for Empowerment of the community with special needs in Sri Lanka, organized by the Saviya Development Foundation was held at the International day on 3rd December 2011 at the Sangamitta Girls College in Galle.
At this ceremonial occasion the founder of the ‘Arogya’ Foundation for the Disabled the Director General Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero was presented with ‘Diriya Prasadhani’ award by the Chief Guest Honourable Mithripala Sirisena the Minister of Health, in appreciation of the services renderd for the Disabled community. This International Disabled day commemoration was graced by the Chief incumbent of Sri Nagarukkarama Buddhist Temple at Kalupe, Hikkaduwa the Most Ven. Ransagoda Rathanadhamma Thero, Most Ven. Karaputugala Dhammarathana Thero, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Deputy Speaker, Chandima Weerakkody, Hon. Dr. M. P. Ramesh Pathirana and President of the Saviya Development Foundation Dr. Winston de Silva including a large gathering of able and Disable persons adults and children who performed cultural items at this celebration. DONATION OF STATUE OF LORD BUDDHA TO ‘AROGYA’ FOUNDATION – SRI LANKA‘Arogya’ Foundation for the Disabled , express its gratitude for becoming partners of the proposed establishment of shine room dedicated to meditation under the rehabilitation programme for the benefit of the Children, Youth, Adults and Clergy of the differently able community in Sri Lanka. The requirement of the statue of Lord Buddha is to be placed in the shrine room specially reserved for the use as the image for meditation (Buddhanussathi Bhawana) in presence of this statue of the Lord Buddha ).
This long felt need became possible due to great collective effort of a group of philanthropists in Thailand headed by Madam Channa Chanathara & Madam Nattaya Lim with the support of : Muangpraesi Family, Daffner Family, Edlbergmeier Family, Riemann Family, Yim-In Family, Mies Family, Mrs. Supaporn Linthe, Mrs. Wilairat Rueckl, Mrs. Yupa Buapuan Mrs. Wanphen Phongsura, Ms. Kansinee Sri-inkaew, Ms. Somkid Boonchleaw. We, meritoriously thank them and their families for the donation of this invaluable image of Lord Buddha with Brass finish Metal statue Weighing 67 Kgs. 4’.8” in Height and 3’ 3” in Breadth, with a financial involvement of US nbsp; 2,000. Arogya Foundation is ever grateful to the donors for their voluntary response towards this meritorious disable friendly activity. Possibilities are being explored to deposit this statue in the proposed meditation shrine room no sooner the establishment of the proposed Rehabilitation centre become reality. Already an invitation has been made world wide through the electronic media to help the Foundation for a donation of a land or with Financial assistance. Rev. Unapana Ariyadhamma.
